Ohio House Goes Democrat

The Ohio Democratic Party and The Clinton Group celebrated a sweeping victory on November 4th as Democrats claimed control of the state House of Representatives for the first time in 14 years.  This also marked the first time in Ohio history that a party which did not draw the district lines won a majority.

Central to this success was winning rural seats.  With several victories in traditional GOP strongholds,  The Clinton Group was able to identify, persuade, and get targeted voters to the polls in swing districts where the margin of victory was often in the hundreds.   The efforts of the ODP and The Clinton Group contributed to record turnout throughout the state, but most notably in less populated districts.

The Clinton Group managed data, message, and telephone outreach for 17 races and served as both consultant and communications provider.   Beginning with a strong early identification program, favorable voters were reminded and encouraged to vote early, and undecided voters were persuaded throughout October and re-identified as election-day drew near.  Coordination and adaptability allowed for constant tweaks to the program, giving the ODP flexibility to reach a greater number of voters with specific messages resonating in the language and values that appeal to the individual.
