The Stem Cell Research and Cures Amendment

Grassroots Campaigns for Missouri Coalition of Life Saving Cures

The Solution

The Missouri Coalition of Lifesaving Cures, a coalition of 100 patients groups, medical organization and citizens brought together to work to pass the Amendment, asked The Clinton Group to identify supporters, educate and persuade the undecided voters, and execute a massive get-out-the-vote on Election Day.

We identified nearly 85,000 supporters of the amendment who could be mobilized to contact other voters and foster grassroots support as well as contribute to GOTV efforts on Election Day.

Our canvass contact also found that 35% of those we spoke to were undecided on the issue.  To win, it was essential to quickly employ an effective persuasion program that would educate this large undecided group about the benefits of stem cell research for their community.

Through a multi-phase contact program, we identified and communicated with almost 62,000 undecided voters, often using unique messages to different target groups.  This targeted approach allowed the campaign to better direct tight resources on education and persuasion messages to key targeted swing voters.  It was key to the passage of the amendment on Election Day.
