The Challenge
The principal goal of the Hotline was two fold. The first was to increase turnout by providing voters with options and resources to vote. This was accomplished through a series of initiatives including; a statewide VBM program with the Hotline as a key component providing voters with request form applications, assistance in completing the forms and coordination of rides to polls on E-Day. The second goal was to increase turnout by restoring voter confidence in the voting process. In essence, we sought to simplify the voting process by not only reaching out to voters, but also giving them an opportunity to reach back. We provided voters a communications medium to engage the Dem. Party, a crucial factor given the publics view of politics in Florida since the 2000 election. By utilizing Direct-Connect technology the Hotline was able to connect voters with members of Kerry’s legal team, helping to reaffirm their confidence in the political process.
