Political Services for Everglades Forever Partnership
The Challenge
Key legislators wanted to keep their commitment to protect the Everglades and to support a healthy sugar industry, but found themselves in an increasingly hostile situation. The Partnership needed to counter the initial cries from certain environmentalists that Bill 626 would harm the Everglades, and to instead focus on the fact that this new legislation would serve both agricultural and environmental purposes better than the original bill. With only a few weeks left in the Florida legislative session, the bill needed to be passed in a timely and cost effective manner. The Partnership wanted a grassroots demonstration to generate broad based political support for key legislators and the Governor to act on Bill 626.
